In America, we always talk about declining birth rates. However, there are a lot of ways to remedy the issue and motivate families to have children. With that said, Chuck Schumer is not advocating for any of those remedies and instead aims to push mass-migration – you know, like every Democrat.

At a speech he gave before the press at the United States Capitol  on November 16, 2022, New York Senator Chuck Schumer called for amnesty for America’s illegal alien population — according to recent estimates from Ivy League institutions the illegal alien population could actually be at around 22 million.

Schumer stated, ““Now more than ever, we’re short of workers, we have a population that is not reproducing on its own with the same level that it used to.” The Senate Majority Leader added,  “The only way we’re going to have a great future in America is if we welcome and embrace immigrants, the DREAMers and – all of them. Cause our ultimate goal is to help the DREAMers but get a path to citizenship for all 11 million, or however many undocumented immigrants.”

Schumer used the typical declining population argument to justify a massive expansion in the illegal alien population. Because Americans aren’t reproducing above the replacement rate, immigration must be opened up. Never mind the consequences of bringing in millions of people from backwards cultures of the Global South. This usually results in strained welfare states, the formation of immigration ghettos, increasing crime rates, and the consolidation of leftist parties.

If the West is serious about addressing its birth rate problem it needs to create socio-economic policies that make it conducive and affordable for family formation. One thing that would help is to defund planned parenthood and other services that encourage abortion and other unsavory forms of birth control. Moreover, there needs to be a culture that promotes traditional values and does not celebrate excessive forms of self-expression that usually go against basic norms of social decency and family formation. That means less championing of single-motherhood and spinster lifestyles.

However, using mass migration to address America’s demographic problems is tantamount to applying a disease-infested Band-aid to a gunshot wound. Rational minds would be wise to ignore Schumer’s political advice here.
